Being a North York Hearts player means more than simply taking part in soccer. It means learning the game, supporting teammates, respecting others and helping every participant feel that they belong.
Players are encouraged to focus on effort, skill development, decision-making, resilience and teamwork rather than only goals or match results. Every player should feel safe, included and confident to learn, make mistakes and improve.

Listen when others are speaking, give every activity your best effort and respond positively to feedback. Asking questions and learning from mistakes are important parts of becoming a better player.

Respect teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, facilities and equipment. Play fairly, accept decisions and help create an environment where everyone feels safe and welcome.

Why Hearts Is Different
Playing for North York Hearts is also about developing confidence, responsibility and respect. Players are expected to represent themselves, their teammates and the club positively both on and off the field.
Helpful Information
Bring your complete uniform or training clothing, shin guards, appropriate footwear, water and any medication you may require. Always check the schedule, field and arrival time before leaving home.
For soccer-related questions, players are encouraged to speak directly with their coach. A parent or guardian can help arrange the conversation if needed. Safety or bullying concerns can always be taken directly to a trusted adult or safeguarding contact.
Mistakes are part of learning. Reset, stay involved and focus on the next play. Players are encouraged to reflect on what went well and identify one thing they can continue improving.
Treat officials and opponents with respect at all times. Accept decisions, avoid arguing or retaliation and compete fairly regardless of the score or circumstances.
The club uses a fair and age-appropriate process focused on learning and improvement. This may include a reminder, a conversation with the player and family, an improvement plan or, when necessary, temporary restrictions or suspension. Serious safety concerns are handled through the club’s safeguarding and reporting process.
