About Parent Handbook

Welcome to North York Hearts. Parents and guardians are essential partners in creating an environment where children feel safe, included, challenged and excited to return. This handbook explains what families can expect from the club and what we ask from families throughout the season.

Our shared goal is simple: put the player’s enjoyment, belonging, learning and well-being first. By working together, communicating respectfully and supporting development over results, we can give every child the opportunity to enjoy soccer and grow with confidence.

Encourage Effort

Celebrate effort, courage, teamwork and improvement. Encourage players to make their own decisions on the field rather than directing every play from the sideline.

Stay Positive

Keep encouragement positive for all players, regardless of the score. Help create an environment where children feel comfortable learning, making mistakes and trying again.

Respect the Coaches

Respect coaches, teammates, opponents, match officials, volunteers and other families. Questions or concerns should always be raised calmly and through the appropriate club communication process.

Can’t Find What You Need?

Why Hearts Is Different

More Than Training.

A positive soccer experience depends on everyone working together. Families play an important role in keeping players prepared, supported and safe throughout the season.

  • Keep registration, emergency contacts, medical information and pickup permissions current.
  • Make sure players arrive on time with the required equipment, water, medication and weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Report absences as early as possible through the club’s team communication platform.
  • Remain reachable during activities and follow all supervision, pickup and sign-out procedures.
  • Review and acknowledge the club’s conduct, concussion, privacy/photo and waiver requirements each season.
